Putnam County Computer System

The Putnam County Clerk has a computer system which has the most current judgments and land records scanned into the system. Land records are indexed on the computer since 1976 and judgments since 1985. The computer will allow four different types of history searches for either set of records. These searches are by name, instrument number, date type, and index number. All four searches work the same way. The message screen on the bottom will tell the user what type of search they are doing. To change the search from a land records to judgments is very easy. Press the "ESC" key and the screen will go back to the option screen for land records/judgments. Use the up and down arrow keys to select land records or judgments and press return.

Screen A is an example of an a name search for land records. Enter the name on the lines provided. If you are not sure of the spelling, you may only enter a last name. Press the "CONTROL" and "ENTER" key at the same time to run the search. Screen B will appear.

Screen B lists all the land records that fit the search name "FRANK SMITH". To select a name, use the up and down arrow keys to highlight a name and hit "RETURN". Screen C will appear with all the information about the document. If the name you are searching does not appear, you can use the page-up or page-down function to go to the next page of names. To search a different name, press the "ESC" key to go back to Screen A.

Screen C lists the detailed information on the document. To view this document, write down the book and page number and retreive the book from Room 100-B. If the land record was filed after June 1992, you could view it on the screen, or it could be printed by using the "F8" key.

Screen D is an example of an a name search for judgment records. Enter the name on the lines provided. If you are not sure of the spelling, you may only enter a last name. Press the "CONTROL" and "ENTER" key at the same time to run the search. Screen D on the next page will appear.

Screen E lists all the judgment records that fit the search name "FRANK SMITH". To select a name, use the up and down arrow keys to select a name and hit "RETURN". Screen F will appear with all the information about the document. If the name you are searching does not appear, you can use the page-up or page-down function to go to the next page of names. To search a different name, hit the "ESC" key to go back to Screen A.

Screen F lists the detailed information on the document. To view this document, press the "F8" button and the document will appear on the screen. Under document info, the document is listed as having two images. Ask the clerk before you print. The printer has to be on-line and set up. The printer is in the clerks staff area.
