This is the main menu screen for the Rockland County Computer System. The computer will let you search court records, land records, or both indexes. It is recommend you use the all "ALL INDEXES" option. To change the search option to just court records or land records, use the "F1 - Change Type" function. The F-1 to F-8 keys on the keyboard correspond to the commands on the bottom of the screen. Each screen will have different functions at the bottom of the screen. Printers are available to print the screens as you conduct your research.

Type the last name of person for an individual and first name of a business for a business search, then press "ENTER". Screen B will appear. Keep in mind that the keyboard used with this system has a "RETURN" key and an "ENTER" key. The "ENTER" key is located two rows below the return key When conducting research, remember to use the "ENTER" key.

Screen B lists all the records that meet the search criteria for "SMITH, FRANK" This screen represents records for the search name from 1987 to the present. The "occur" column refers to the number of documents under that name. The columns on the right refer to which category they are classified under. (LAN = land, COU = court). For example, there are 6 documents under the first name "SMITH, FRANK", 3 of them are land records and 3 are court records. To search records from 1986 and prior, press the "F7" key and the screen will display these records. Both sets of records (1986 & Prior and 1987 - Present ) cannot be displayed on the screen at the same time. The word "OVERFLOW" will appear when more records exist. Screen C contains a detailed display of the six records found under the name "FRANK SMITH". The land records list the other party, filing date, and the book and page to find a copy of this document. No more land record information is available from the computer. You must consult the actual documents for more information.
